In fact, only one adapter and battery will fit in the camera at a time. To date, we have sold thousands of our systems with absolutely no returns. Hasselblad®, known for their great quality, uses the greater capacity motors even though they know they will be using a lot less voltage.
Nine volt battery connector series#
The motor inside the 500 series motorized cameras is actually able to handle 12 volts or more. We repeated these test multiple times on mulitple cameras. In both tests, niether the motor nor the battery showed any signs of excessive heat which indicated no strain on the camera.
In the second test, we put on 12 exposure backs, one at a time-more like a real-world photo shoot would go. In one test, we held the shutter release down continuously and counted away until we could hear the motor start to slow down. How did you get 450 shots on one battery!?!? You can squeeze more shots out of the battery but after 450 the motor starts to slow down. With a decent brand name battery like Duracell®, you can usually get at least 450 shots (37 rolls of 120 film). The adapter slips in one compartment and the 9V battery slides into the other compartment. While Hasselblad® didn’t design a great battery system for these motorized cameras, they did have the foresight to design the camera with two battery compartments. It does not modify your camera in any way and installs as fast as you can connect a 9V battery and slip it into the camera. The Nine Volt Battery System is very easy to use. A 9V battery runs about $2 versus the rechargeables which can run close to $100. Use a cotton swab or a soft cloth to wipe away any dirt or debris. If the connections are loose the battery may not make a good connection and will not work properly.Another thing you can try is to clean the contacts. You may need to use a screwdriver or pliers to tighten them. 9V batteries are much more stable and reliable. First check the connections to make sure they are tight. Rechargables are notorious for blowing the battery doors off the 500 series cameras when their fragile internal chemistry goes bad. With our system, you can just pop in a new 9V battery. The rechargeables usually take 14 hours or more to charge. Many times the rechargeable batteries can die without warning which is terrible if you are on a shoot and your battery goes dead.
As rechargeable batteries get older, their charge may only last for a couple rolls of film. 9V batteries are very cheap and easy to obtain. ĩ-volt batteries accounted for 4% of alkaline primary battery sales in the United States in 2007, and 2% of primary battery sales and 2% of secondary (rechargeable) battery sales in Switzerland in 2008.Rechargeable NiCad and NiMh batteries that come with these cameras only have a short life span, are very expensive and usually hard to find. Primary lithium types are made with three cells in series. Carbon-zinc types are made with six flat cells in a stack, enclosed in a moisture-resistant wrapper to prevent drying. These cells are slightly smaller than LR8D425 AAAA cells and can be used in their place for some devices, even though they are 3.5 mm shorter. Most PP3-size alkaline batteries are constructed of six individual cylindrical 1.5 V LR61 cells enclosed in a wrapper.
A few other 9-volt battery sizes are available: A10 and A29. A range of PP batteries was produced in the past, with voltages of 4.5, 6, and 9 volts and different capacities the larger 9-volt PP6, PP7, and PP9 are still available. The size, regardless of chemistry, is commonly designated PP3-a designation originally reserved solely for carbon-zinc, or in some countries, E or E-block. Designations for this format include NEDA 1604 and IEC 6F22 (for zinc-carbon) or MN1604 6LR61 (for alkaline). Mercury batteries of this format, once common, have been banned in many countries due to their toxicity. The nine-volt PP3-size battery is commonly available in primary zinc-carbon and alkaline chemistry, in primary lithium iron disulfide and lithium manganese dioxide (sometimes designated CRV9 ), and in rechargeable form in nickel-cadmium (Ni–Cd), nickel-metal hydride (Ni–MH) and lithium-ion.
